London Academicals Hockey Club, fondly known as 'The Accies', has carved out a special place in the London hockey scene. Founded by ex-University College London Union hockey players in 2002, Jasmin Patel has seen the club flourish, attracting players from across the UK and even further afield. The Accies are all about good hockey and good times, open to both sociable men and women and battling it out in the newly formed London Hockey Leagues.
Playing out of St Dunstans College in Catford, just a mere 10-minute train ride from London Bridge Station, the club offers top-notch facilities for practice, home matches, and winding down with a drink at the clubhouse. Easier than ever to get to, whether by car or public transport, it’s a convenient spot for players from all corners of London.
Jasmin would love to hear from goalkeepers keen to join their Ladies' 2nd and 3rd XI teams. Whether you're experienced or just wanting to try your hand at goalkeeping, the Accies want to hear from you.
Ladies' training kicks off on Monday, 4th September from 19:30-21:00, and the men's sessions start on Tuesday, 5th September from 19:30-21:00. The social side is as buzzing as the hockey, with a calendar packed full of events like club curries, a Christmas bash, and a January "beat the blues" social. The season’s highlight? The players' dinner – a grand celebration for everyone who’s donned the Accies shirt.
Beyond the season, the Accies stay active with matches against student teams, mixed and six-a-side tournaments, and even organise ski trips and summer holidays, all under Jasmin's watchful eye.
Interested in joining? Just drop Jasmin an email at [email protected] or reach out to the club’s secretary, treasurer, fixtures coordinator, or social event coordinator.
St Dunstans College Jubilee Ground, Canadian Avenue, London, SE6 4SW is the place to be for all the fun and action. Join the Accies and be a part of their exciting journey!
