Little Mountain Traditional Martial Arts is a welcoming and supportive martial arts club located in the heart of Mount Pleasant, Vancouver. Instructors Tim Landsiedel and Dave Gowans bring over twenty years of experience in Shorinji Ryu Karate to their classes, which focus on the foundations of Classical Karate. Students learn essential techniques such as stances, blocks, punches, kicks, as well as Kata and Bunkai. Traditional Okinawan weapons, known as Kobudo, are also taught, including the Bo, Jo, Sai, Tanbo, Tonfa, and Tanto.
Classes at Little Mountain Traditional Martial Arts are ninety minutes long and include stretching, basics, self-defence applications, and kata practice. The club welcomes individuals aged 12 and up, with no prior experience necessary. Beginners are always encouraged to join ongoing classes to develop fitness, confidence, and peace of mind through consistent karate training. The dojo prides itself on providing individual instruction within a small group setting to ensure each student's growth and progress.
