Badminton club season is always an exciting time for members. The Limestone Badminton Club, located in Kingston, Ontario, has been a staple in the badminton community since it was founded around 1960-61 by Bernie Houghton and Gary Quinn. Starting out with just a few players, the club has grown over the years to include members of all abilities. The club has played at various locations including Anderson Gym (CFB Kingston), Holy Cross, KCVI, and Chalmers Street United Church, before finding its current home at Loyalist Collegiate and Vocational Institute.
In the late 80s, the club became an official night class as part of the Frontenac School Board's program, before becoming an independent competitive club in the early 90s. Today, the Limestone Badminton Club is an all-inclusive club, welcoming players of all skill levels, from advanced intermediate to recreational players, and even those who may be new to the sport but have a basic understanding of the game's rules.
Throughout the year, the club hosts social events and in the spring, they hold a day-long open tournament. The club also has a constitution and holds an annual general meeting in May, where members have the opportunity to provide input to the executive, review the financial report, and participate in elections for executive positions.
The Limestone Badminton Club values sportsmanship, camaraderie, and a love for the game. Whether you are a seasoned player or looking to pick up a new hobby, the club provides a welcoming and supportive environment for all members. Located at Loyalist Collegiate and Vocational Institute in Kingston, the club's playing times are on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Please note that the club is currently closed to new members, but they will continue to review membership availability in the future.
