Leeds Chess Club 2022

Leeds Chess Club is excited to invite you to join their thriving chess community! Rupert Jones and the team welcome chess players of all abilities, from beginners to grandmasters. Every Wednesday from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, you can find them in the quiet upstairs room of the West Riding Hotel on Wellington Street, just a minute's walk from Leeds City Station.

With a rich history dating back to 1834, Leeds Chess Club is one of the oldest in England. They participate in various leagues and tournaments, including matches on Saturday afternoons in the Yorkshire league. The club's affordable membership fee of just £30 a year ensures chess enthusiasts from all walks of life can join in the fun. Juniors are welcome too, as long as they're accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The members, hailing from countries like France, Italy, Spain, and Nepal, make for a diverse and friendly environment. Rupert Jones himself has even represented Papua New Guinea at the FIDE Chess Olympiads multiple times!
