Lava Wellbeing & Fitness is a personal training service known for its commitment to helping individuals manage their long-term health conditions and rehabilitate from injuries. Sarah, the personal trainer, is dedicated to designing personalised programmes that cater to each individual's current abilities and provide both physical and mental challenges. By working with Sarah, clients can expect to become fitter, stronger, and more confident, experiencing the benefits of improved overall wellbeing in various aspects of their lives beyond their training sessions.
No matter the individual's ability, the sessions at Lava Wellbeing & Fitness are designed to not only improve cardiovascular fitness and muscular strength but also make daily activities more manageable. Sarah also takes into account the social and emotional impact of living with a disability, illness, or injury, helping clients build daily practises that enhance their overall wellbeing, confidence, and mental health. The diverse range of clients at Lava includes those with hearing difficulties, stroke and head injury survivors, multiple sclerosis patients, individuals with total joint replacements, people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and hypertension, as well as mothers seeking to return to exercise after having children.
At the studio, clients are provided with a space where they can focus on themselves without being defined by a diagnosis, labels, or judgement. Sarah, with her qualifications as a Personal Trainer, Exercise Referral Practitioner, and Sports Massage Therapist, combines her knowledge and understanding to bridge the gap between standard personal training and physiotherapy, ensuring that clients receive a needs-based approach to exercise. Sessions at the studio can be paid for on a Pay As You Go basis or through a monthly subscription, with all sessions requiring an initial consultation and health screening. In some cases, consent from a medical practitioner may be required prior to the start of any training.
Lava Wellbeing & Fitness also offers an online personal training service called Lava Anywhere. This monthly programme is delivered through the My PT Hub app, providing individuals with personalised plans tailored to their goals and needs. The programme can be done with or without equipment and serves as an excellent alternative to face-to-face personal training for individuals with young children, those who work shifts, or frequent travellers. Lava Anywhere includes video tutorials for each exercise, making it suitable for beginners or those returning to exercise after a break.
Weekly accountability check-ins with Sarah and access to the Lava closed client support group on Facebook ensure that individuals receive the knowledge and support of a personal trainer while having the flexibility to work out at their convenience. Lava Anywhere can also be added as a service for face-to-face clients, providing additional support and accountability outside their studio sessions.
In addition to personal training services, Lava Wellbeing & Fitness also offers sports massage therapy. Sports massage combines deep tissue massage techniques with muscle energy techniques to reduce muscular tension, discomfort, and pain. It is not exclusive to sports persons and can benefit anyone. Sports massage therapy can be effective in treating muscle and joint sprains and strains, headaches, and postural dysfunction, among other conditions.
