Kufudokan Main Beach is a renowned sports club located in Gold Coast, Australia. Specialising in Aikido and Karate-Jutsu, this club offers a unique and comprehensive training experience for individuals interested in martial arts.
The Kufudokan is a relatively new school, developed from classical arts and distinguished by its dynamic circular movements that showcase both strength and beauty. The lineage of Kufudokan Aikido can be traced back from Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido, to Saito Dai-Shihan, Saburo Takayasu Shihan, and finally to Grant South Sensei. Grant South Sensei's research into the early forms of Aikido, known as Aikibudo, further enhances the authenticity and depth of the teachings at Kufudokan Main Beach.
Aikido, practised at Kufudokan, incorporates techniques from classical Jujutsu, Kenjutsu, and Jojutsu, all under the guiding principle of Aiki or Harmony. The teachings of Kufudokan arts stem from the methods of mind-body fusion found in the contemplative and integrative traditions of Asia. It is a Buddhist-inspired, non-sectarian, traditional, and friendly environment that promotes holistic well-being.
In addition to mental and spiritual development, Kufudokan emphasises building a strong and flexible body through its therapeutic approach to Aikido techniques. Students are encouraged to find a good Dojo in their area and join Aikido practise to fully explore the benefits of this martial art.
Kufudokan Aikido encompasses techniques found in Jujutsu and modern Aikido. Grant South Sensei, having received a Menkyo Inka (Masters Licence), has extensive knowledge of the Goshin-jutsu system called Hyo-sui Ryu Koppo, which originated from a small Dojo in Hokkaido. Furthermore, South Sensei has also obtained permission to teach the original Aikibudo techniques of Ueshiba O'Sensei's Ogi-no-koto collection, known as “Budo. ” These techniques, rooted in O'Sensei's Budo Text, form the core of Kufudokan Aikido and are taught in relation to each classical form and its underlying principle.
Kufudokan Main Beach also offers Karate-Jutsu training, tracing its lineage from Hohan Soken O'Sensei to Ted Lange Hanshi and Grant South Sensei. Karate-Jutsu, originating in Okinawa, Japan, draws influences from Chinese Shaolin temple boxing, indigenous Okinawan and Japanese Jujutsu, as well as Indian martial arts and yoga. The Kufudokan approach aims to maintain the techniques and early relationship between these arts, creating a unique and encompassing training experience.
At Kufudokan Main Beach, individuals can expect a high standard of instruction, incorporating traditional techniques and principles into their training. With multiple locations, comprehensive documentation, and a focus on mind-body harmony, Kufudokan Main Beach is a sports club offering a holistic approach to Aikido and Karate-Jutsu training in the Gold Coast region.
