Chris, the organiser, would like to share some exciting news with the sports community. Chris has been working hard to ensure that The Kings Golf Club Inverness stands out as a top spot for golf lovers. With its 18 Hole Championship Golf Course, Practise Range, chipping area, Pro Shop, and Bar and Restaurant, it has everything needed for a great day out on the greens.
The course, designed by the talented Scottish golf architect Stuart Rennie, is a fantastic addition to the Highlands. Even Bernard Gallacher OBE, a respected figure in golf, sees it as a potential championship venue in the future.
The club's quality has been recognised, featuring in the top 100 Golf Courses in Scotland and the Top 100 under 65 in GB & I. It's also set to host the 2021 Men's Area Team Championship, which is a big deal.
Golfers of all levels are welcome to enjoy the club year-round. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming, and the staff are happy to help you make the most of your visit.
The club’s website, backed by Ness Castle Lodges and Home Farm Cottages, offers online booking for members and visitors. It also gives handy info on local weather, so you can plan your day on the course.
The Kings Golf Club has an interesting backstory. It was born out of the closure of the old Torvean Golf Club, which had to make way for the expansion of Inverness. Stuart Rennie incorporated parts of the old Torvean course into the new design, maintaining a connection to its past. The land also has historical significance, with remnants of an Iron Age fortress nearby.
The name, Kings Golf Club, reflects the area's historical importance. It's believed to have been the seat of King Brude of the Pictish Kingdoms. St. Columba is also said to have camped near the River Ness, waiting to meet the King.
The club officially opened on August 30, 2019, with Bernard Gallacher OBE driving the first ball down what used to be the old Torvean 18th fairway. The modern clubhouse, with views over the first tee and eighteenth green, adds to the charm.
Whether you're a local or just passing through Inverness, The Kings Golf Club promises a world-class golfing experience with a touch of history. With its beautiful course, top-notch facilities, and friendly vibe, it’s bound to become a favourite for many.
