Join Cassie Newnes from Willis Walkabout and Kate Roseth from Agoy Yoga for a 7 day/6 night off track bush walking and yoga experience in Kununurra with Agoy Yoga Darwin, a Yoga club in Darwin. This retreat is a collaboration between Willis Walkabouts and Agoy Yoga, two leading local businesses.
Participants will have the chance to venture into remote and untracked areas of Kununurra, immersing themselves in pristine and magnificent ancient landscapes that only a few have explored. Each day, they will have the opportunity to engage in yoga, meditation, reflection, and swimming, making it a truly holistic and rejuvenating experience.
The adventure begins with a short drive to Carr Boyd Ranges, where participants will discover stunning waterfalls, magnificent gorges, and even have the chance to sleep under the stars. It truly is a chance to disconnect from the modern world and reconnect with nature.
During the retreat, there will be daily yoga sessions that allow participants to connect with their bodies through gentle movement. The postures will help stretch the muscles, especially after a day of walking, and will incorporate a roll and release method to alleviate any tight muscles and reduce aches and pains. The yoga practice will be adapted to the varied environments, which include rock and sand. No prior yoga experience is required, as the practice will be modified for everyone to participate.
Since participants are responsible for their own travel to Kununurra, accommodation, hiking packs, equipment, and breakfast and lunches, it gives them the freedom and flexibility to choose what works best for them. The weight expected to be carried during the journey is around 10-14 kg, depending on the gear. The distance walked with packs will vary, with some days consisting of 4–5 hours of walking (including breaks) and other days exploring with a day pack.
This retreat is designed to cater to all levels of experience, from beginners to experienced bushwalkers. However, if you have no previous bushwalking experience, it's recommended to get in touch with the organisers beforehand to ensure you have the appropriate equipment. Each participant will be provided with a lightweight yoga mat, so you won't need to worry about bringing any additional yoga equipment.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and beverages. Dinners will be provided by the knowledgeable walking guide, with the weight of the dehydrated dinners shared among the participants. Hot water will also be available every morning and evening, with additional opportunities to boil water during the day. Cooking will be done on the fire, and water will be sourced from the creek, ensuring a truly immersive and authentic experience.
So, don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to reconnect with nature, practice yoga amidst stunning landscapes, and explore the unexplored corners of Kununurra. Book your spot today with Agoy Yoga Darwin!
