Kent Youth Dance, a youth dance company

Ian Jackson would like to share some exciting news on behalf of the Kent Youth Dance Company (KYD), based right here in Herne Bay. KYD offers a fantastic opportunity for young dancers aged 8-21 to get a taste of what it's like to dance in a professional company.

Since its start in 2008, KYD has been providing young dancers with an amazing platform to perform alongside professional ballet, jazz, contemporary, and hip hop dancers. This biennial programme includes a two-week rehearsal period in August, culminating in a spectacular production that showcases a blend of classical ballets, modern musicals, and original pieces.

The productions have featured many well-loved ballets like Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Giselle, and Alice in Wonderland. During the festive season, KYD has also put on their own twists of classics such as The Nutcracker and The Snowman, bringing joy and creativity to the stage.

Ian is proud to witness how many young dancers have used their experiences at KYD to pursue professional training, with some even achieving successful careers in dance. The chance to work with seasoned professionals offers participants invaluable insights into the dance industry, helping them refine their skills and techniques.

Beyond their regular productions, KYD has had the honour of performing at high-profile events, including the launch of the Poppy Appeal at Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent. This highlights the company's dedication and talent, contributing to meaningful causes through their art.

Over the last decade, KYD has received numerous positive testimonials from past participants. These young dancers have valued the opportunity to work with industry professionals, create lasting friendships, and gain a deeper understanding of the dance world.
