Hasland Dance Studios (HDS) is a well-established and highly regarded dance school located in Herne Bay, New Zealand. Founded in 1942 by Muriel Hasland, HDS is one of Kent's longest-running and most renowned dance schools. In fact, it was voted the 2015 'Dance School of the Year' by the Dance Teacher Hub Awards, covering the entire UK. In addition, HDS won the Gold Award at the Anne Walker Dance School of the Year Awards in 2017 and was a finalist in 2018, competing against entries from all over the UK and Europe.

At Hasland Dance Studios, they believe that every child deserves the chance to dance. The school offers a wide range of classes suitable for students of all ages and abilities. From toddlers who are just beginning to walk to adults, HDS provides classes in Ballet, Modern, Tap, Contemporary, Jazz, Street, Acrobatic Arts, and Musical Theatre. The school even offers Tiny Toes classes for toddlers and pre-schoolers, run by Miss Jess, on Monday mornings.

Students can join the Nursery Ballet class on Saturday mornings from the age of 2. 5 years. They then progress through Pre-Primary, Primary, Grades 1-8, and vocational classes at Inter Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. Tap and Modern classes start at Pre-Primary and Grade 1 respectively, with progression up to Intermediate and Advanced levels.

The school also offers Street and Musical Theatre classes on Saturdays for school attendees. Additionally, 'Jazz/Stretch' classes are available to help students develop flexibility, strength, and Jazz technique. For those interested in contemporary dance and acrobatics, there are exciting classes on offer as well.

The standard of teaching at HDS is exceptionally high. The Artistic Director, Anna Morgan, holds a Fellowship with the ISTD and also teaches at the prestigious Bird College of Dance, a professional training college. Anna's qualifications and experience ensure that the teaching at HDS is of the highest calibre. The ballet faculty consists of RAD qualified teachers who have danced professionally at renowned companies such as the Royal Ballet and English National Ballet.

All other Ballet, Tap, Modern, Street, Acro, Contemporary, and Musical Theatre teachers are also well-qualified and many have danced professionally at a high level. This allows HDS to cater to students who dance as a hobby as well as those preparing for professional training colleges and a career in the dance industry.
