Kent Cheer Academy (Cheerleading) is a gymnastics club located in Gravesend, offering children aged 3 and up the opportunity to participate in cheerleading and develop their skills in a safe and inclusive environment. With a dedicated coaching staff who have years of experience coaching teams to national and international levels, Kent Cheer Academy is committed to helping every athlete reach their full potential.
Led by Gym Owner and Head Coach Catherine Wilcocks, along with Programme Manager/Coach Tricia Wilcocks, Tumble Director/Coach Crystal Broad, and Coaches Emma Butler and Ellie Regan, the KCA Coaching Staff are passionate about cheerleading and place individual athlete development at the heart of their coaching philosophy. They believe in setting and reaching personal goals alongside team accomplishments, allowing athletes to dream big and surpass their limitations.
In addition to the core coaching staff, Kent Cheer Academy also empowers junior coaches to assist with athlete progression. Under the guidance and expertise of trained coaches, these junior coaches not only contribute to the growth and development of athletes but also serve as role models for them.
What sets Kent Cheer Academy apart is their commitment to every athlete they train. Regardless of age and ability, all teams receive the same high-quality coaching. Athletes are taught solid fundamentals in cheerleading and tumbling, while also learning important life skills such as commitment, sportsmanship, responsibility, respect, and a strong work ethic. These skills will stay with them long after their cheerleading career is over.
Kent Cheer Academy has a rich history that began in 2013 when Head Coach Catherine started coaching cheerleading at a Gravesend school. In 2014, the club was established as Kent Cheer Academy outside the school and attended its first competition with just six All-star Athletes. Since then, the academy has experienced exponential growth and has consistently sent successful teams to compete both nationally and internationally.
To accommodate its growing membership, Kent Cheer Academy now operates from its current home at St. George's School. The facility boasts the only full-size cheer floor in the area, along with various tumbling tracks and state-of-the-art equipment. Known for its cutting-edge choreography and dedication to the highest level of technique across all levels, Kent Cheer Academy is renowned in the cheerleading world.
Above all, Kent Cheer Academy aims to provide a fun and safe environment for athletes to grow and learn as individuals and part of a team. By fostering confidence, physical strength, and valuable life skills, the academy is committed to helping young gymnasts excel in cheerleading while also building friendships and creating lifelong memories.
