Are you the owner of Kartsport Manawatu?
Kartsport Manawatu is a renowned go-kart track located on Shirriffs Road, Longburn, just outside of Palmerston North, New Zealand. The club runs monthly races on the second Sunday of every month at the Manawatu Toyota Raceway. Visitors are welcome to participate in the races or spectate. The track offers a variety of kart classes for drivers of all ages, from Cadets to Senior drivers.
To use the track, individuals must be a member of Kartsport Manawatu or an affiliated Kartsport New Zealand Club. It is important to note that there are no hire karts available at the facility.
Upcoming events include the Ladies Have-A-Go Day on Sunday, 17 December 2023, a Working Bee on Saturday, 20th January, and the next Club Day on Sunday, 18 February 2024. The track will be closed on the mentioned dates for these specific events.
Kartsport Manawatu encourages membership to enjoy the benefits of the club. The membership year for 2023/2024 runs from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024. More information on becoming a member can be found on their website.
The club keeps its members up to date with the latest news and information through the Club News section on their website. This includes track closures, such as due to a Power Cut on Shirriffs Road, and updates on events and meetings, such as the Annual General Meeting.
The track follows specific operating hours. During winter, the track is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. During daylight saving, it operates from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Adhering to the track hours is crucial to avoid suspension from the club.
In terms of practise rules, it is mandatory to comply with Kartsport New Zealand rules and travel in the main direction (anti-clockwise) around the circuit. Reverse direction practise is only allowed the day before a reverse direction race day. Proper safety equipment, including crash helmets, driving suits, gloves, and footwear, must be worn during practise and races. All karts must meet Kartsport NZ noise regulations and have approved airboxes fitted.
Age-specific practise sessions are implemented to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all drivers.
Additionally, practise sessions are limited to 10 minutes each. X-Platers or new racers start at the rear of the grid, and drivers must use hand signals when pulling off the track. Driving in the pit area and entering the pits via the dummy grid are strictly prohibited. Karts must be pushed well clear of the circuit for safety reasons.
