Joondalup Netball Association INC (JNA) is a community netball sporting organisation located in Joondalup, Western Australia. Established in 1997, JNA is dedicated to the inclusion and development of all players, coaches, and officials. As a proud member of Netball WA, JNA offers a range of programmes and competitions for players of all ages, from Net Set Go (NET 5/6 years) to Seniors.
The competitions and programmes are held at the outdoor netball courts at the HBF Arena sporting complex in Joondalup. During Winter, games are played on Saturdays for Net Set GO to lower Junior Divisions, and on Monday evenings for the Junior to Open Divisions. In the shorter Spring season, games are played on Monday and Tuesday evenings. To participate in the competitions, individuals can contact one of the affiliated clubs or teams.
JNA is governed by a dedicated board consisting of several positions. The President of the board is Kerry Collings, with Warren Deverneuil serving as the Vice President. The Secretary role is held by Sharon Knott, while Paul Blomley takes on the role of Treasurer. The board also includes three General positions, currently held by Nicole Hanigan, Anna Hopkins, and a vacancy.
Additionally, JNA has a subcommittee responsible for various aspects of the association's operations. The Umpire Development Officer is Grant Hicks, supported by Craig Baseley as the Development Officer and TBA as the Assistant Development Officer. The Development Administrator and JETS Support Officer positions are held by Sharon Knott and Louise Kelly, respectively. Other roles include the NetSetGo Coordinator (Anja Kotze), Competition Coordinator (Andrew Bowness), Covid Officer (Jacquelyn Musaka), Governance Office (Jacquelyn Musaka), and ACSRA Representative (Paul Blomley).
JNA adheres to various policies and guidelines, including the Netball Australia Member Protection Policy, JNA Grading Guideline, JNA Guidelines for Opens Social and Opens 35+ Divisions, Guideline for Working with Children, JNA Communication Policy, JNA Spectator Behaviour Policy, and JNA Code of Conduct/Behaviour. The association also has a 2023 JNA Game Management Handbook for Competition and participates in the Fuel to Go and Play Association Championships. JNA is affiliated with Net Set GO and Netball WA and follows their respective guidelines and screening processes.
Insurance coverage is provided to JNA members through the Netball Australia National Insurance Programme, handled by Howden Group as their insurance broker. However, the coverage only applies to members involved in Netball Western Australia sanctioned competitions and activities.
JNA keeps its members updated on COVID-19 protocols and guidelines through regular announcements and updates. The association has made efforts to ensure the health and safety of its participants during the ongoing pandemic.
In terms of news and opportunities, JNA often seeks expressions of interest for various committee positions, such as the ADO Sub Committee and Umpire Convenor. Additionally, they hold an Annual General Meeting each year to discuss the association's progress and future plans.
