Joga & Dance is a well-established yoga instructor located in Winchester, offering energising Vinyasa Core Strength Yoga and Contemporary Jazz classes. Whether you are a beginner or have experience in yoga and dance, Jo provides classes suitable for all levels.
Weekly classes are held every Monday at 7:30pm at Peter Symonds College on Bereweeke Road. Jo's Vinyasa Core Strength Yoga classes focus on building core strength and improving alignment. Each week, participants will also learn fun arm balance variations, making the classes both challenging and enjoyable.
Aside from the regular classes, Jo also runs weekend workshops that delve deeper into specific aspects of yoga, such as inversions, backbends, and arm balances. These workshops are an excellent opportunity to explore and refine your yoga practise.
During the summer months, Jo takes advantage of the beautiful outdoors by offering Stand-Up Paddle (SUP) and yoga sessions in Hamble. This unique blend of activities allows participants to connect with nature while experiencing the benefits of both yoga and paddleboarding.
Jo has a wealth of experience in both dance and yoga. Having trained as a dancer at Trinity Laban, Jo has worked with renowned teachers such as Gary Lambert, Lyndsey McConville, and Lea Anderson. After completing her PGCE at Exeter University, Jo has been teaching dance in London and Hampshire schools and colleges for over 15 years.
Following her move to Winchester, Jo discovered a passion for yoga. She undertook a 200-hour training programme with the School of Yoga Institute in Costa Rica, focusing on Vinyasa flow, meditation, pranayama, and spiritual health. Jo is a registered member of Yoga Alliance (200 RYT) and actively seeks opportunities to further her knowledge and skills through workshops and training.
Jo's yoga and dance classes are designed for mixed abilities, ensuring that there are options and modifications available for everyone. Alignment, mindfulness, and breath control are emphasised in her classes, allowing participants to find and maintain balance in both body and mind.
Positive feedback from Jo's students highlights her effectiveness as a teacher. One student describes her class as the “best yoga class around,” praising Jo for her ability to cater to individual paces.
