JMAcrobatics School of Dance and Gymnastics, located in Crediton, Devon, is a renowned dance school dedicated to nurturing and developing students in all aspects of technique and performance. With a focus on the Acrobatic Arts syllabus, JMA aims to provide safe and effective progressions in five divisions of Acro: Flexibility, Strength, Balance, Limbering, and Tumbling.
The syllabus, developed with the input of professionals and experts in various disciplines such as ballet, modern, jazz, contortion, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, and more, ensures a comprehensive programme that sets JMA apart from other dance schools. Students progress from beginner preschool levels, learning basic skills like log rolls and somersaults, all the way to advanced acrobatics, effortlessly tumbling across the stage.
The founder of JMA, Miss Jessica Manuela Jackson, has a strong background in gymnastics, first starting at the age of 5 in her native Bolivia, South America. After moving to Devon, she expanded her training to include modern, ballet, tap, jazz, acro, contemporary, and musical theatre. Miss Jess's passion for teaching led her to train through the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance, as well as Acrobatic Arts. With four years of experience teaching Primary, Junior, and Senior acro, Miss Jess has also expanded her expertise to include musical theatre, contemporary, and lyrical classes.
Miss Gemma Richardson, another dedicated instructor at JMA, brings her professional musical theatre background to the school. She trained at the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in Central London and graduated with a diploma in professional musical theatre. Miss Gemma's experience includes performances on The Voice as a background dancer, ensemble work in Circus 1903 for BBC's Children in Need, and acting extra work for Channel 4's “Complaints Welcome.
As the school continues to grow year after year, JMAcrobatics School of Dance and Gymnastics remains committed to providing exceptional training and opportunities for its students. Whether they aspire to pursue a career in dance or simply enjoy learning and performing, JMA is dedicated to helping each student reach their full potential.
