JKS Shotokan Karate – Hibiscus Coast / Orewa is a Karate club located on the North Shore of Auckland City, with dojos in Browns Bay, Hibiscus Coast (Orewa), and Takapuna. They are a local, family-oriented club that is passionate about teaching Karate to both children and adults, with a focus on building self-esteem, strength, and discipline.

At JKS Shotokan Karate – North Shore, everyone is welcome, regardless of age or ability. They offer all-round exercise and self-defence training, and for those interested, the opportunity to participate in tournaments. Additionally, JKS Shotokan Karate – North Shore is currently offering new members two weeks of free training upon signing up, allowing individuals to truly experience the benefits of Karate.
For children aged 5-8, the club offers a specialised programme called Little Tigers Karate, designed to enhance focus and confidence at an early age. This programme is available at all three dojos.
The mission statement of JKS Shotokan Karate – North Shore is to foster, administer, and advance the art of traditional Shotokan Karate in New Zealand. They aim to teach, motivate, educate, and guide their students and instructors while promoting exemplary ethics in Karate-Do. This is achieved through regular training, grading events, special courses, and competitions for both juniors and seniors.

The club takes pride in the achievements of their members, regularly recognising black belt advancements and graduation ceremonies. They recently celebrated the achievements of Sensei Sean who received his Godan certificate and Kenny Nguyen who received his Yondan JKS ratification. They also congratulated seven students, Marcel Fourie, Chris Baker, Jacob Baker, Shane Du Plooy, Rowan Downey, Layla Downey, and Claus Fuchs, for attaining their Shodan level black belts.
