Jo Bryan-Smith, the face behind JBS Fitness, is a level 3 personal trainer and a certified StrongFirst kettlebell and bodyweight instructor. She has been training people in St George Park, Bristol, for the past three years and now operates out of Fitness Foundation in Kingswood. Joanna's fitness journey began in New Zealand after leaving a stressful job in the creative and Bristol nightlife industries. A significant moment was when she experienced burnout and was hospitalised with bacterial pneumonia.
However, this experience allowed her to stop smoking and start her personal training business.
With her personal experiences, Jo has developed an open-minded and holistic approach to training. She understands the demands of a busy schedule and works with individuals to help them achieve their goals through movement and training that aligns with their needs. She enjoys working with groups and individuals, finding the right type of fitness to suit their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Her goal is to be the gateway drug to exercise, introducing people to the joy and benefits of physical activity.
JBS Fitness operates based on core beliefs that everything is connected – physically, mentally, and emotionally. Jo believes that fitness is accessible to everyone; it's just a matter of finding the right channel. She emphasises the importance of making exercise fun, as there are numerous ways to move and achieve fitness goals. Community is also essential, as it brings confidence, reassurance, knowledge, shared experiences, and support networks.
Finally, Jo believes that we are all capable of more than we think, and she encourages clients to push their boundaries.
