Yoga until she was in her late 80s and my classes reflect this belief in inclusivity.
In Jackie JJC Yoga, the focus is on teaching PEOPLE, not just postures. The studio aims to make yoga accessible to everybody and everybody. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced yogi, the classes are designed to help you improve your posture, move with more ease, have better quality of sleep, and reduce stress levels.
Jackie currently offers in-person mat-based and chair yoga classes in various locations including Raynes Park, Morden, Mitcham, and Ealing. Additionally, she covers classes all over London. For those who prefer the comfort of their own homes, there are also live-streamed online classes available.
What can you expect in Jackie's classes? She teaches in English and explains any Sanskrit terms used. Each posture is explained in easy-to-understand language, including the benefits of practising it. Throughout the class, options for postures are offered, encouraging students to find variations that suit their unique bodies.
Participants are always free to take a break at any time without any pressure.
In terms of adjustments, Jackie sometimes offers hands-on adjustments, explaining how it will help and asking for permission before proceeding. However, consent is completely respected, and students are free to decline adjustments without any offence. Breathing exercises are taught, but there is no compulsion to participate. Jackie also integrates aspects of yoga philosophy that are relevant to the modern world.
Classes conclude with Savasana, allowing the practise to fully integrate in both body and mind. Jackie's classes are known for their warm and friendly atmosphere, with occasional light-hearted moments like mixing up directions or losing count of repetitions.
If you're a new student, you can access online classes by emailing Jackie a completed Health & Emergency Contact Form to receive the Booking Password. For in-person classes, you can fill out the form or complete it at the venue before your first class.
As for Jackie herself, she is a yoga teacher living in southwest London with a wealth of experience. Having taught regular in-person classes before transitioning to live-streamed classes during the pandemic, she now continues with both formats. She teaches in various locations, including Raynes Park, Mitcham, and Morden, and is also a regular class teacher at Triyoga in Ealing.
Jackie's own yoga journey started almost 30 years ago, and she has practised various styles throughout her life. Prior to teaching yoga, she worked in the corporate world, gaining firsthand experience of how yoga can help manage stress levels and improve focus and concentration. She believes that yoga is for everyone, regardless of age, and her classes reflect this inclusive philosophy.
Come join Jackie JJC Yoga and experience a welcoming and nurturing environment for your yoga practise. Whether you're a seasoned yogi or just starting out, Jackie's classes will help you discover the transformative power of yoga on both your body and mind.
