Introduction to Aikido is a class offered by the University of Tasmania Aikido Club, a renowned Aikido club based in Hobart. This class is specifically designed for individuals who are intrigued by the practice of Aikido and would like to give it a try.
If you're interested in joining us, you're welcome to attend the class every Thursday at 6:00 PM. To ensure your comfort during the session, please make sure to wear loose and comfortable clothing. For safety purposes, we kindly request that you remove all jewellery before participating.
When arriving at the training location, we ask that you wear your shoes from the change room to the designated shelves provided. This little detail helps us maintain a clean and organised training environment. Furthermore, we have certain etiquette rules that we follow during our practice which you can learn more about during the class.
Before becoming a part of our Aikido community, new students are required to watch a class first. As Morihei Ueshiba, the esteemed founder of Aikido, wisely said, “To injure an opponent is to injure yourself. To control aggression without inflicting injury is the Art of Peace.” By observing a class, you'll get a good sense of what Aikido is all about and its philosophy.
Throughout the year, our training schedule generally remains consistent, so you can count on us for regular sessions. However, during special occasions like Christmas, we recommend contacting us to confirm any schedule changes. Our training sessions are held at the University of Tasmania Sport and Recreation Centre, which is conveniently situated between the end of Alexander St and Grace St in Hobart, Tasmania.
If you're eager to explore the graceful and powerful martial art of Aikido, our venue in Hobart is the ideal starting point. We look forward to welcoming you and introducing you to the captivating world of Aikido at the University of Tasmania Aikido Club!
