Hung Leng Kuen Kung Fu Southampton

Located in Southampton, Hung Leng Kuen Kung Fu is a martial arts school that welcomes individuals of all body types and levels of experience. With a strong focus on inclusivity, this school offers free introductory sessions to encourage prospective members to give it a try.

The instruction at Hung Leng Kuen Kung Fu is led by highly trained instructors who have dedicated their lives to the practise of martial arts. The style itself was developed by the founder and lifetime practitioner, Sijo J. R. Dutton.

It incorporates elements from various martial arts styles, including animal-based Kung-Fu forms, Shaolin Longfist, Bak Mei, Tai Chi Chuan, Chi Kung, Baguazhang, and Weaponry. This fusion of styles allows students to develop their health, focus, strength, flexibility, knowledge, ability, and self-confidence.

Hung Leng Kuen Kung Fu provides classes in Traditional Kung Fu and Tai Chi for its students. Additionally, they offer Free Self Defence sessions supported by SUSU & Team Southampton, specifically aimed at providing safety for the students of the University of Southampton.

The training times for Kung Fu classes are on Monday from 8-10pm in the Activities Room, Tuesday from 8-10pm in the Activities Room, and Saturday from 11am-1pm in the Activities Room. The Free Self Defence sessions take place on Thursday from 8-10pm in the Martial Arts Suite. For those interested in sparring, there is a dedicated session on Sunday from 7:30-9:30pm in the Martial Arts Suite (requires a sports pass).

The club is run by students, with the current committee comprising Devon Sansom as President, Gian Gordula as Publicity Officer, Connor Calkin as Secretary, and Kate Callaghan as Treasurer. The Kung Fu Club is just one of many clubs and societies within the Students' Union at the University of Southampton.
