Houston Farm Riding School, a local riding school located at Houston, is excited to promote their upcoming Horse Riding event.
Founded by Mr & Mrs Comrie, who initially worked with pigs, Houston Farm Riding School decided to diversify in order to adapt to the changing market. With a wealth of experience in show jumping, they purchased 3 ponies at Kelso horse sales on October 14, 1972.
Just a day later, on October 15, 1972, Houston Farm Riding School officially opened its doors after obtaining the necessary permission and license from the council. The school quickly attracted its first students, including the children of a local grocer and three young girls from Uphall. Such was the popularity of the school that within a week, they had over 20 pupils.
As the school grew, so did their equine family. They currently house a total of 54 ponies and horses, offering daily lessons throughout the week. Thursdays are designated as a lighter work day, allowing both the students and the horses to relax and recharge.
Houston Farm Riding School takes pride in being approved by the ABRS (Association of British Riding Schools). They have become a go-to riding school for clients not only from the Lothians, the Borders, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Lanarkshire, but also from countries such as America, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Germany, and France.
Their dedication and skill can be seen in their impressive roster of pupils, who have gone on to become Scottish and British champions in various equestrian disciplines.
