Welcome to Matariki on Mokotūāraro (Clive River) - Heretaunga Matariki 2024! Hosted by Heretaunga Ararau O Ngati Kahungunu Waka Ama Roopu, the event will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Hawkes Bay Rowing Club off Farndon Road, Clive, Hastings. For those who are interested, there are race distances of 7km, 10km, or 15km to choose from, and this year there is the addition of W1, W2, and W3 paddlers.
The day starts with registrations and waka checks at 7:30 am, followed by welcomes and open karakia at 8:00 am. The races will begin promptly at their scheduled times to make the most of ideal paddling conditions. Participants can enjoy complimentary food, including homemade soup and gourmet burgers prepared by Andy, with vegetarian options available. Make sure to bring a cup for your soup!
To cap off the day, there will be a prizegiving, karakia, and pack up at 2:00 pm. Come on out and be a part of this day filled with exciting paddling competition and a great sense of camaraderie.
