Hayle Pilot Gig Club, founded in 1976 as Hayle Rowing Club, is one of the longest-standing rowing clubs in Cornwall, located in Hayle Harbour. Starting with a variety of boats, the club now focuses on Cornish pilot gig rowing. With over 90 active members of different ages, the club offers year-round training and competes in a range of events throughout the year.
Hayle Gig Club is proud to have a full complement of juniors, mens, womens, and veterans crews representing the club at regattas all over the South West. Training options include circuit training, indoor rowing, social rowing, and crew racing. Spring and summer are particularly active months around Hayle harbour, with multiple squads training hard to prepare for weekly regattas.
Each summer, Hayle Gig Club hosts the County Under 14s Championships, the only event in the racing calendar exclusively for the U14s. Copperhouse Pool, conveniently located near the club, provides a safe and easily accessible venue for this event, attracting hundreds of people from all over the county.
