Hannah Benham Iyengar Yoga is a well-established Yoga studio located in Camborne, Cornwall. Founded by Hannah Benham, a passionate and experienced practitioner of Yoga for over 25 years, and a certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher since 2009. Hannah has dedicated nearly 20 years of her Yoga journey solely to the Iyengar style.
Hannah's love for Yoga blossomed during her college years, where she attended Yoga classes and was introduced to Iyengar Yoga for the first time. Although she experimented with various Yoga styles after college, none of them resonated with her as deeply as Iyengar Yoga did. Upon relocating to Cornwall, Hannah sought out a class that could match her initial Yoga experiences, and she found it with Iyengar Yoga taught by Charlie Worthington. Since then, she has embraced Yoga with increasing regularity and enthusiasm, which naturally led her to become a dedicated teacher.
Hannah's own practise and teaching philosophy have been shaped by her personal journey and the benefits she has experienced. Yoga has been a source of health, confidence, and support throughout her life, including during her two pregnancies. It is this desire to pass on the key to well-being that motivated Hannah to become a teacher and share her knowledge and passion with others.
The studio offers a range of classes suitable for various levels of experience. General classes are open to beginners and experienced students alike, providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for all. For those seeking to deepen their practise, intermediate classes are available. Hannah believes in the value of hard work and self-improvement, but also recognises the importance of finding solace and self-reflection in one's Yoga practise.
Each student is encouraged to explore their own capabilities and work at their own pace, while also fostering a sense of camaraderie among the group.
Classes are held in two locations within Camborne. General classes take place on Tuesdays from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at The Institute in Praze-an-Beeble, and on Fridays from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at Loft Studio in King Edward Mine. Intermediate classes are held on Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at The Institute. The costs for all classes are 12 per class or 60 for a package of 6 classes to be taken within 7 weeks.
Please note that intermediate classes run only during term time.
In terms of equipment, most students prefer to bring their own mat and blanket. Iyengar Yoga utilises props, and while students are welcome to bring their own, there are also blocks, bricks, and belts available for borrowing at both locations.
For those attending the Praze location, parking is available on the road. In case of full parking, there is free parking just a short walk away at Praze Surgery. At the Loft Studio, there is an on-site car park for the convenience of students.
Additionally, Hannah collaborates with Kirsty Reps to offer a 10-week Pregnancy Yoga Course. This course provides expectant mothers with a safe and nurturing space to explore the benefits of Yoga during pregnancy.
