Haileybury Football – Old Haileybury Amateur Football Club, located in Caulfield South, is a prominent Australian Rules Football (AFL) club with a rich history. Established in 1961, the club is proud to be a part of the vibrant Caulfield South community. With the Bloods and Hearts as its teams, Haileybury Football Club thrives on inclusiveness, support, and camaraderie.
Haileybury Football Club has four teams that compete in various divisions, including the premier Men's B's. As the current leading Men's B's leadings, the club is keen to showcase its success and aims to compete in the prestigious VAFA's Men's leading A and Women's Division 1 in 2023. The club is supported by dedicated families, passionate supporters, and generous sponsors, creating a strong network of individuals who contribute to the club's growth and development.
The club values community involvement and expects its players to actively participate in the club's culture-building activities. This includes committing to training two nights a week, informing coaches of any unavoidable absences, and putting in personal training sessions when unable to attend regular practises. Additionally, players are encouraged to stay for post-training meals, attend club functions, and support other playing groups by attending their games. The club fosters a positive and supportive environment where team members challenge each other to perform their best and uplift their teammates.
Haileybury Football Club firmly believes in inclusive and respectful behaviour both on and off the field. Discrimination or demeaning comments based on race, gender, sexuality, belief system, or physical attributes are strictly prohibited within the club. The club actively promotes diversity and is committed to welcoming new players, particularly senior students from Haileybury College.
The club's committee plays a crucial role in upholding its values. They ensure that decisions consider the implications for all teams and players while managing the operational business and sustainability of the club. Communication is a priority for the committee, as they regularly update club members about upcoming events, celebrate achievements, and highlight current priorities. Furthermore, the committee prioritises player well-being by providing mental health awareness training for coaches and interested players, organising an annual Danny Frawley round to raise awareness of mental health, and facilitating employment opportunities for players through club networks.
