Gujarat State Chess Association (GSCA) stands as the eminent authority for chess in Gujarat, proudly affiliated with the All India Chess Federation and the World Chess Federation. Celebrating a momentous milestone, GSCA inaugurated the Sardar Patel Chess College in Ahmedabad on October 3rd, 2014. This inauguration was graced by notable figures, including Mr. Bharat Singh Chauhan, Asian Deputy President and AICF CEO, and Mr. Ajay Patel, GSCA President. Named after the iconic Iron Man of India, Sardar Patel Chess College is the nation's first institution dedicated to providing specialized chess education.

The Sardar Patel Chess College is a distinguished affiliate of Swarnim Gujarat Sports University, recognized under the UGC Act of 1956, and offers groundbreaking degrees in Chess Training. The college aims to foster the development of qualified chess coaches and instill a deep-rooted passion for chess among students. Mr. Bharat Singh Chauhan highlighted the significant role this institution will play in nurturing local talents and strengthening the foundation of the Chess in Schools Program, especially in Gujarat, the backyard of the Prime Minister.

GSCA President Mr. Ajay Patel emphasized that the establishment of Sardar Patel Chess College is just the beginning of a comprehensive plan to promote chess across Gujarat and India. This initiative aligns with a vision endorsed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aiming to utilize chess as a tool for educational and social development. The college's unique programs are designed to create employment opportunities within the chess ecosystem, ensuring that the game garners more enthusiasts and professionals.

Managed by Chess Education Trust, the college offers a range of programs, including Certifications and Diplomas in Chess Training, monitored by esteemed educators like GM Tejas Bakre and IM Shekhar Sahu.
