Located on the stunning coast of Great Yarmouth & Gorleston, the Great Yarmouth & Gorleston Sailing Club (GYGSC) is a small and friendly informal club that offers some of the best sea sailing experiences in Norfolk. With a range of dinghy and cat classes to choose from, including D1, Fireball, Formula 18 cat, 505, Laser, Laser 4000, Phantom, RS300, RS400, RS500, RS600, RS700, RS800, and Shadow Cat, there's something for every sailor.
The club sails on Sundays and Thursday evenings throughout the summer, providing ample opportunities for members to hit the water. GYGSC boasts an impressive location, situated on the Gorleston side of the inner harbour mouth, next to the Pier Hotel and facing the promenade. The club's secure dinghy park is surrounded by a six-foot-high fence, ensuring the safety of members' boats.
Access to the sea is provided via a ramp located near the club, running between the promenade and the beach. This convenient setup allows for launching in all tides and most weather situations, making sailing accessible to members at all times.
Alongside fantastic sailing opportunities, GYGSC also offers a variety of social events and activities to foster a sense of community within the club. From swim meets to stand-up paddleboarding, there's always something happening for members to enjoy both on and off the water.
The club also prides itself on its involvement with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA). Members have the option to join the RYA, supporting the organisation's mission and gaining access to additional resources and benefits. For those who prefer sailing during the winter months and Saturdays, GYGSC has connexions with two local inland clubs - Rollesby Broad Sailing Club and Waveney & Oulton Broad Yacht Club.
