Located in the small town of Girgarre, Victoria, the Girgarre Tennis Club is a vibrant and active club that prides itself on fostering a love for tennis in the community. Competing in the Kyabram District Tennis Association, the club boasts 2 senior teams playing on Saturday afternoons and 4 junior teams in the Saturday morning competition.
One of the highlights of the club is its commitment to developing young talent. With the capable Sheree Starling as their coach, the club has implemented the Hot Shots programme, designed to introduce children aged 3–8 years old to the game of tennis. This programme has proven to be popular within the community and has helped ignite a passion for tennis in the younger generation.
The Girgarre Tennis Club is housed within the Girgarre Recreation Reserve, a sprawling sporting precinct managed by a dedicated committee on behalf of the Shire of Campaspe. The reserve features a football/cricket oval, a second cricket ground, 4 tennis courts, and a multipurpose netball/tennis court. These state-of-the-art facilities provide a welcoming environment for the Girgarre Tennis Club, the Girgarre Cricket Club, and the Girgarre Football Netball Club, which are the main user groups of the recreation reserve.
In addition to exceptional on-court facilities, the Girgarre Tennis Club also boasts well-equipped social rooms that are available for hire. These rooms are perfect for hosting various events, with banquet-style seating for over 100 guests, an equipped kitchen, bar facilities, and a dance floor. Whether it's a celebratory occasion or a community gathering, the social rooms at the Girgarre Tennis Club provide a versatile and comfortable space.
