High Legh Bowling Club, a well-established Lawn Bowls club in Knutsford, is offering an exciting promotion for new players. They are providing 3 months of free membership and coaching to help beginners get started in the sport of Crown Green Bowls.
Crown Green Bowls is a popular and ancient game known for its simplicity and subtlety. The objective is to bowl biased bowls, also known as 'woods', to come as close as possible to a target called the 'jack' or 'block'. The challenge lies in the fact that crown greens are not flat, and each green is unique.
One of the fantastic aspects of Crown Green Bowls is that men and women of all ages can participate on an equal footing, making it a great sport for the entire family. It's a non-contact sport that encourages social interaction and the formation of new friendships. And the best part? It offers the benefits of healthy outdoor exercise while requiring less time than golf or cricket. A game can be played with two players (singles) or four players (pairs/doubles), and typically lasts about an hour. However, social games can be played for as long as desired.
High Legh Bowling Club warmly welcomes newcomers who have no previous experience in Crown Green Bowls. No special equipment is needed, apart from flat shoes. The club provides instruction on how to play and offers spare bowls for introductory use. They even have second-hand woods available for purchase. Experienced members of the club are always ready to assist and advise new players.
Periodically, the club organises Coaching Days with guidance from Cheshire Association coaches. As players improve their skills, they have the opportunity to join one of the club's teams that participate in local leagues. The outdoor season runs from April to September, while the indoor season takes place from October to March. During the indoor season, members can play in the High Legh Village Hall or other nearby indoor facilities.
Newcomers are encouraged to bowl with the club without commitment before applying for membership. For those who are new not only to the club but also to the sport of bowling, there is a half-price outdoor membership subscription of only £14 in the first year. Annual membership fees are generally affordable, with outdoor bowling priced at £28 and indoor bowling in the Village Hall priced at £6.
Crown Green Bowls offers a pleasant and friendly sport that provides enjoyable outdoor exercise at a time of your choosing and at a low cost. High Legh Bowling Club is a well-established and welcoming club with conveniently located facilities, reasonable membership fees, and special offers for beginners. If you are interested, you can contact the club's Treasurer for more information. The club looks forward to welcoming you soon.
