The “Gateway to Balance” Pilates studio in Coulsdon, owned and operated by Rob Filmer, has been providing comprehensive and innovative Pilates training for over 17 years. With a background in both Mat and Studio based Pilates, as well as training in other disciplines like Yoga, Rob has developed a safe and rehabilitation-based movement practise that caters to individuals with chronic issues and those recovering from injuries.

In terms of Rob's teaching approach, he believes in adapting and modifying his practise based on each client's unique needs and goals. Rob's journey into the world of Pilates began in 2002 when he started practising the discipline on the recommendation of his osteopath. Not only did Pilates help him overcome back-related issues and repetitive strain injury, but it also provided him with stress relief and a mind-body connexion. Inspired by the transformative power of Pilates, Rob decided to become a Pilates teacher himself and underwent extensive training with Helge Fisher, a co-founder of BodyControl Pilates .
