About

Forward to welcoming you to the Forster/Tuncurry Mudcrabs Winter Swimming Club! Established in 1980, our club has a rich history and a strong focus on family and camaraderie. With around 60 members ranging from 15 to 91 years old, we promote ourselves as a family club and encourage participation from all members of the family.

Our club is located in the picturesque Forster-Tuncurry area in Australia, and we swim at the iconic Forster Ocean Pool. You can find us there most days of the year, but our races and swim meets take place between May and September, with races starting at 9:00am. Whether you're a seasoned winter swimmer or just starting out, all are welcome to come and join us in the exhilarating waters!

Our club leadership consists of President Tim Cusack, Secretary Bob Harkins, and Captain Jason Berg. They are dedicated to ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members. You can easily get in touch with us through our key contact, Bob Harkins, or find us on Facebook under “Forster Tuncurry Mudcrabs.

The Mudcrabs are in their 34th year of winter swimming, with members who have been with the club for decades. Our oldest member, Bruce Kellow, is 87 years old, while our youngest honorary member, Harper Cusack, is just 6 months old! Over the years, the club has seen its fair share of changes, including a name change from "Cold Tooths” in the mid-eighties. However, the sense of camaraderie and the spirit of family have remained constant.

Our club is a member of the New South Wales Winter Swimming Association and the Australian Winter Swimming Association. These associations are dedicated to promoting winter swimming and organising competitions throughout the winter months. The NSW Winter Swimming Association was formed in 1959 and has grown to include numerous clubs, while the Australian Winter Swimming Association was formed in 1976 to accommodate clubs from Queensland and Western Australia as well.

At the Forster/Tuncurry Mudcrabs Winter Swimming Club, we believe that winter swimming is not just a physical activity but also a shared experience that brings together people of all ages and backgrounds. We invite you to explore our website and join us for one of our events. Whether you're looking for a challenge, a sense of community, or simply a refreshing dip in the ocean, we have something for everyone. Come and enjoy winter swimming with us!
