Fernhurst Cricket Club is a community cricket club located in Fernhurst, West Sussex, catering to men, women, and juniors. The club has experienced significant growth over the past decade, priding itself on its friendly and inclusive atmosphere. With a team and role for individuals of all ages and abilities, Fernhurst Cricket Club believes in promoting “Sport for All” and keeping membership subscription fees low.
In 2022, despite the challenging weather conditions, Fernhurst Cricket Club participated in an impressive 138 games across all teams, just short of the previous year's record. The highlights of the year included the May Bank Holiday cricket tournament and community opening event, the club's first tour to the Isle of Wight where they won both games, and the addition of boundary wedges that not only enhanced the professional appearance of the ground but also brought in sponsorship funds for future improvements.
Furthermore, the club celebrated several achievements, including the 1st XI and U15 title wins, and hosting five Sussex seniors county matches, including a semi-final. It was also a joyous occasion to witness many young players, including girls, making their debuts in I'Anson League cricket.
Looking ahead to the future, Fernhurst Cricket Club is excited to celebrate the centenary of its first wooden pavilion, which was built in 2024. The club continues to anticipate further achievements in its new home and aims to maintain the same level of excitement and success.
The club offers a range of teams to cater to its diverse membership. For juniors, there are teams in age groups from Under 7 to Under 18. The Fernhurst Flames is the women's team, playing in the Aldridge Sussex league. The men's teams consist of two Saturday teams in the I'Anson league and a non-league Sunday team.
Additionally, Fernhurst Cricket Club offers the ECB All Stars Cricket programme for children aged 4 to 7, providing them with 8 weeks of cricket experience that helps develop their skills, love for the game, and camaraderie within a safe and enjoyable environment.
Fernhurst Cricket Club is proud to have the support of its sponsors and advertisers, who contribute to the growth and success of the club. The club also maintains active social media groups, including Facebook groups for men, women, and juniors, where members can stay connected and engage with each other.
Managed by the Fernhurst Recreation Ground Trust and operating as a registered charity (Charity Number: 305368), Fernhurst Cricket Club is committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for cricket enthusiasts of all ages and abilities.
