DMAA holds the distinction of being personally sanctioned by the Dragon Sign Athletic Association and the Cheung Kwok Tai Wushu Association in Hong Kong. Additionally, DMAA has close relationships with other associations worldwide, including Canada, China, France, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia. The school has gained recognition for its expertise and has been featured in The Metro and on BBC TV.
The school focuses on three styles of Chinese martial arts: Southern Dragon Style Kung Fu (Long Ying Kuen), Yang Style Tai Chi, and Liu He Ba Fa (Six Harmonies Eight Methods), also known as “Water Boxing. ” Each style provides a unique and comprehensive approach to martial arts training.
Southern Dragon Style Kung Fu, created by Grandmaster Lam Yiu Gwai, is a powerful and dynamic style that draws inspiration from the celestial Chinese dragon. Sifu Braithwaite, the instructor at DMAA, is the 4th in lineage from Grandmaster Lam and holds the position of foreign president at the Dragon Sign Athletic Association.
Yang Style Tai Chi is an internal form of kung fu that focuses on slow and graceful movements for physical and mental health. In addition to its effectiveness as a martial art, Tai Chi is practised worldwide as a means of reducing stress, developing fitness, improving confidence, flexibility, energy levels, and sleep patterns. DMAA offers instruction in the traditional long form, as well as sword, sabre, and Dong Ying Jie's fast form.
Liu He Ba Fa, developed by the sage Chen Tuan, is considered one of the most sophisticated forms of kung fu. Also known as “Water Boxing,” this ancient and rare art emphasises smooth and fluid movements, requiring practitioners to embody the qualities of water adaptable, formless, and powerful.
DMAA also offers street self-defence courses for individuals, groups, or corporate sessions, with tailored programmes available for teenagers.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, DMAA welcomes all individuals interested in learning Chinese martial arts. For more information, please explore our website or contact us directly.
