Exmouth Beach Rescue Club, based in Exmouth, has been providing voluntary lifeguard patrols along Exmouth seafront since 1986. As a registered charity, their mission is to promote beach and water safety while offering Surf Life Saving sport training for both Juniors and Seniors all year round.
Guy and the team at Exmouth Beach Rescue Club run training sessions on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. These sessions focus on lifeguarding skills and Surf Life Saving sport activities, helping members stay fit and prepare for lifeguard duties. The sessions also provide great learning experiences for younger members.
The club supports various community, regional, and national events, including the Blenheim and London triathlons and long-distance open water swims. Their lifeguards and inshore rescue boats ensure participant safety during these events.
Exmouth Beach Rescue Club is committed to education about drowning prevention and the ocean environment. They’ve delivered a Junior Lifeguard education programme to over 200 children in three years, highlighting the importance of water safety.
Guy and the team have hosted the 2014 National Surf Life Saving Age Group Championships and provided safety cover for events like the Starcross and Fairway Buoy Swims, Dawlish Triathlon, and the Exmouth Roundtable firework display. They’ve also supported Olympic and World Championship Triathlons.
Surf Life Saving Sport is a core part of Exmouth Beach Rescue Club. Training focuses on fitness and three main disciplines: prone paddleboard, surf ski, and swim, which are rooted in lifesaving techniques.
Guy and everyone at the club are proud of their achievements and the impact they’ve had on promoting beach and water safety. Their dedication to training, lifeguarding, and Surf Life Saving sport makes Exmouth Beach Rescue Club an essential part of the Exmouth community.
