The club recently celebrated its 30th anniversary with a grand event. Over 75 members, along with their families and friends, gathered on Bank Holiday Monday, 28th August 2023, to commemorate this milestone. The weather was perfect, creating a joyful atmosphere for croquet-related games, a delightful buffet, and a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony led by the club's longest-standing and newest members.
Enfield Croquet Club is proud to support and celebrate its members' individual successes. Thomas Halliday, a talented player, emerged as the winner in the South-West Federation's regional final of the All-England Handicap. Despite facing tough competition, Thomas displayed excellent skills, only losing one game due to an opponent's exceptional performance. His victory adds to the club's legacy of skilled and dedicated players.
The club also actively participates in friendly competitions against other clubs in the region. Enfield East recently triumphed over Newport Elms in the EACF GC Handicap League, securing a satisfying 12-6 victory. The team, comprised of Ian Moore, Graham Curtis, Chris Twomey, and Nicola Hyde, displayed great teamwork and skill during the games, enjoying a home cooked cream tea to celebrate their success.
Enfield Croquet Club also holds its own internal competitions, such as the Sheila Rudling Cup. This tournament witnessed 16 members with handicaps of 8+ competing fiercely for the coveted trophy. Nigel Owen showcased his talent once again and emerged as the winner, adding to his list of achievements within the club.
