Embodied Bellydance is a wellness programme and dance school located in Ivanhoe, Australia. It welcomes women from all walks of life and dance abilities, including both student and professional bellydancers, dancers of all genres, and those who want to deepen their connexion to this ancient dance as a healing dance of modern times. The programme seeks to unite and share physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual experiences through the circles, spirals, and waves of this primordial dance form.
Embodied Bellydance offers a somatic approach to bellydance, allowing participants to explore the inner and outer world of this ancient dance. The programme emphasises the essence of movement quality, which is pulsation. Pulsation is seen as the expression of life and an amplification of the pulsatory life force energy. By connecting to the centre, which is the navel, and the naturally occurring spirals of our physiology, participants are able to move fluidly and freely in their dance.
All levels of experience are welcome at Embodied Bellydance, from beginners to long-time students and even professional dancers or bellydance teachers looking to expand their tool kit. No previous experience is needed to join the programme.
