Eka Yoga

Eka Yoga, founded by Erica Burton-Sandrey, aims to make yoga, mindfulness, and meditation accessible, engaging, and fun for all individuals in Leicester. With a lifelong passion for yoga, Erica has been practising visualisation techniques, yoga postures, and meditation since her teenage years. Drawing on her experiences as a Reiki Master and her background in Fine Art and Philosophy, Erica's classes go beyond just physical postures and delve into the philosophy of yoga and bioenergy.

As a Calm for Kids and British Wheel of Yoga teacher, Erica is also qualified in Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra. She holds a full and enhanced DBS check, as well as first aid and safeguarding training, ensuring the safety and well-being of her students. Additionally, Erica and her immediate family members have been diagnosed with a range of neurodiverse conditions such as Dyslexia, Autism Spectrum Condition, and ADHD. Living with these challenges has driven Erica to develop strategies for anxiety management, emotional regulation, self-esteem boosting, sensory regulation support, and focus development, all of which she incorporates into her classes.

The benefits of yoga, mindfulness, and meditation have been profound not only for Erica but also for her young sons. These practises have helped reduce anxiety, improve physical strength and balance, develop body awareness, emotional regulation strategies, focus, sleep support, and cultivate kindness towards oneself and others. With such a wide range of benefits, yoga has become increasingly popular and is now practised in leisure centres, health clubs, schools, hospitals, and surgeries.

Eka Yoga's classes are diverse, catering to children in schools and colleges, as well as providing strong and dynamic sessions for adults. Each class consists of practising yoga postures, partner yoga (only in family sessions), breathing techniques for focus and calming, meditation, and visualisations. All classes are held in Erica's home studio in Leicester. However, she also offers classes at schools such as Gillotts School in Henley.

Private sessions and classes for schools can be arranged upon request. Erica's studio can accommodate up to four pupils, and the price for private couple or group yoga is 35 per hour. The regular classes offered at Eka Yoga include adult hatha sessions on Mondays from 7:30-8:45 pm and Thursdays from 7:30-8:45 pm, priced at 12 per session. Private or couples classes are available on Saturdays for 35 per session.
