East Anglian Bushido Ju-Jitsu (EAMAC) is a martial arts club located in Lowestoft, New Zealand. With a history dating back to the early 1990s, EAMAC Ju-Jitsu has been providing high-quality training to students of all ages. Led by Chief Instructor Chris Clutten, 6th Dan, the club prides itself on maintaining a friendly and supportive atmosphere for all members.
Unlike other clubs that focus on intense physical training and aggressive sparring, EAMAC Ju-Jitsu prioritises steady improvement, meeting individuals at their own fitness and ability levels. The club believes in supporting and encouraging every student rather than pushing them beyond their limits. This approach makes EAMAC particularly suitable for women, resulting in a balanced male-to-female ratio on the mat.
EAMAC Ju-Jitsu is located at 163 Bridge Road, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft. The club operates on Monday and Thursday nights from 7:00 pm to 9:45 pm. To contact the club, you can call 01502 731048.
For beginners, EAMAC Ju-Jitsu ensures that the first step into their training programme is made easy. The club provides a supportive and informative environment to help new members understand what to expect on their first night. Additionally, the club offers detailed information about Ju-Jitsu, an ancient discipline that combines self-defence and martial arts.
EAMAC Ju-Jitsu prides itself on its specialised dojo, the East Anglian Martial Arts Centre. As one of the largest sole-purpose dojos in the area, the centre provides an exceptional training environment. In addition, EAMAC is the only member in East Anglia of the BJJA GB, which is recognised by SportEngland and the Sport and Recreation Alliance as the Governing Body for Ju-Jitsu in the UK. All gradings at EAMAC are undertaken to the national standard.
All instructors at EAMAC Ju-Jitsu are highly experienced, holding a minimum rank of third dan and possessing at least 25 years of training. These instructors are registered with the governing body, ensuring they have met the necessary qualifications to provide high-quality instruction.
EAMAC Ju-Jitsu offers both adult and junior classes. The adult class meets every Monday and Thursday from 8:15 pm to 9:45 pm. The class begins with a light warm-up and progresses to striking and movement practise, followed by breakfalls. The session may also include learning and practising throws or other techniques, as well as syllabus work for progressing to the next grade.
The junior class, suitable for children aged 7 and up, is run by fully qualified BJJA coaches. Sessions focus on creating a friendly and safe environment while teaching fundamental martial arts skills. The classes follow a similar structure to the adult class, starting with warm-ups, exercises, and techniques appropriate to the child's development level. Learning Ju-Jitsu can benefit children in various ways, including concentration, physical fitness, self-confidence, and coordination.
At East Anglian Bushido Ju-Jitsu, individuals of all ages and fitness levels can join a welcoming community to learn Japanese Ju-Jitsu in an encouraging and supportive atmosphere. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced martial artist, EAMAC offers a unique training experience with highly qualified instructors and a commitment to individual progress.
