Welcome to Earl Stonham Cricket Club, a historical club in New Zealand. Originally founded in 1954, the club played cricket until 1966 when it unfortunately folded. However, in 1988, Earl Stonham Cricket Club was re-formed by a passionate group of local enthusiasts. This was prompted by Stowmarket CC, who had been using the Earl Stonham ground, relocating into Stowmarket.
The following summer, the club played its first fixtures and soon decided to apply for entry into league cricket.
The club has a rich history, which can be explored on the History page. Earl Stonham Cricket Club has celebrated many achievements over the years, recognising the efforts of its players at the traditional annual awards evening. The latest news and updates can be found in the News section on our social media and club directories.
The club fields both Saturday and Sunday teams. The first XI had a positive 2023 season, narrowly missing out on promotion to Division 5 by just six points. They finished 4th in the Two Counties Division 6, showcasing their competitiveness. The second XI, despite not achieving the desired results, maintained their spirit throughout the season.
The club's players have been dedicated to improving their skills, as demonstrated by their unbeaten run in August.
Earl Stonham Cricket Club now has a new club shop, allowing cricketers and followers to easily purchase club kit. In the past, there was limited opportunity to buy club merchandise, but now it is more accessible to everyone. The club is backed by its sponsors, whose support is greatly appreciated.
Throughout the years, there have been exceptional performances by individual players. Ant Stowe and Ben Waters, in a rare occurrence, both achieved five-wicket hauls (known as “fifers” or “five-fors”) in a victorious match against Braintree II XI. Such accomplishments contribute to the pride and success of Earl Stonham Cricket Club.
Earl Stonham Cricket Club looks forward to upcoming events and fixtures. Keep an eye on our social media and club directories for updates.
