About

Located within Brooyar State Forest in the Sunshine Coast region of Queensland, Eagles Nest Lookout is a popular rock climbing destination known for its stunning sandstone cliffs and breathtaking views. Situated on top of the cliffs, the lookout provides visitors with an impressive western vista, making it a favourite spot for both climbers and nature enthusiasts.

The sandstone cliffs themselves offer a variety of climbing routes suitable for climbers of all skill levels. From beginner-friendly routes to more challenging ascents, Eagles Nest Lookout has something to offer everyone. The diverse terrain, including tall eucalypt forests and rainforests, provides a unique and exciting climbing experience.

Aside from the exhilarating climbs, Eagles Nest Lookout also boasts a peaceful camping area located beside Glastonbury Creek. This small camping area offers a great setting for a quiet getaway camping experience. The shallow and sandy stretches of Glastonbury Creek are fringed by riparian rainforest, creating a serene and picturesque atmosphere.

During the summer months, flowering trees surrounding the camping area add a vibrant burst of colour to the forest. Look out for the rich red and yellow flowers of the black bean trees and the vivid orange blooms of the silky oak trees.

To preserve the natural beauty of Eagles Nest Lookout and Brooyar State Forest, it is essential for visitors to adhere to certain guidelines. These include not disturbing any plants, animals, soil, or rocks, using fuel stoves for cooking whenever possible, and bringing your own clean-milled firewood if planning to use a wood fire for cooking.

It is also important not to feed or leave food for animals, stay on designated roads and walking tracks to prevent erosion, and properly dispose of rubbish and recyclable waste as bins are not provided. While dogs are permitted, they must remain under control and on a leash at all times.

Managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) under the Forestry Act 1959, Brooyar State Forest aims to preserve and present its natural and cultural values while providing nature-based recreational opportunities. Future planning for the forest will be developed under the Values Based Management Framework.
