In other news, Sensei Velibor Dimitrijevic recently held a two-day training session in Tewkesbury, which I had the privilege to attend. It was an incredible opportunity to learn from such a skilled and experienced sensei. The training was intense and challenging, but also highly rewarding. I gained a deeper understanding of the techniques and principles of Shotokan Karate and left with valuable insights to apply in my own practise.

Additionally, I had the pleasure of attending a seminar by Sensei Iain Abernethy, a 7th Dan karateka. The seminar focused on the concept of “The easiest and hardest kata to learn,” as quoted by Itosu. It was a thought-provoking and enlightening session that emphasised the importance of a well-rounded karate practise, incorporating both physical techniques and mental understanding.

Our training sessions are held at two convenient locations in Dumfries. On Mondays, classes run from 6PM to 7PM for all grades, followed by a higher grades class from 7PM to 8PM at the David Keswick Centre. On Thursdays, we have classes from 4PM to 5PM for all grades, and from 5PM to 6PM for higher grades at the Thornhill Community Centre.
