Dover Taekwondo has got a name for itself right here in Dover. Matt, the organiser, is passionate about promoting and teaching Taekwondo as originally designed by General Choi Hong Hi. He wants everyone to experience this martial art in its purest form.
The school proudly calls itself a member of The International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF), the world’s governing body for genuine Taekwondo. Founded by General Choi in 1966 in Seoul, South Korea, the ITF aims to grow and promote Taekwondo globally.
At Dover Taekwondo, all the instructors are top-notch, holding internationally recognised certifications. They are committed to passing on the true art of Taekwondo to their students, providing comprehensive training for everyone—men, women, and children of all shapes and sizes.
Taekwondo isn’t just about self-defence; it’s physical and mental training that promotes health, fitness, and well-being. It uses scientific body movements for self-defence and focuses on discipline, technique, and mental conditioning. It instils values like justice, fortitude, humility, and resolve.
The name “Taekwon-Do” carries weight too. "Tae” translates to jumping or flying, which points to the kicking techniques. "Kwon” stands for the fist, referring to punches and hand techniques. And “Do” symbolises the art or the way – the noble path.
Besides training, Dover Taekwondo coordinates and approves tournaments and seminars, sets teaching standards for patterns, sparring, and destruction, collaborates with affiliated organisations, and provides rank and certification services.
If you're curious and want to give it a try, Matt offers a free lesson. Got questions? Reach out to him at 07796152226 or email mat.itf.taekwondo@gmail.com. You can also find all the details about training fees, times, and locations on their website.
