At Dorchester Ballet & Dance, we pride ourselves on offering a wide range of dance disciplines for students of all ages and abilities. Founded in 1958 by Ann Hannay and Elizabeth Goodchild MBE, our mission has always been to make dance available to everyone, regardless of age, wealth, or ability. We are a family-friendly, not-for-profit organisation committed to providing high-quality dance classes at an affordable price.
Our spacious and airy dance studio is equipped with mirrors, barres, and a sprung floor to ensure the safety and comfort of our students. We also offer plenty of free parking, making it convenient for both students and parents to attend classes. Whether you're a beginner looking to explore dance for enjoyment or a seasoned dancer aspiring to pursue a career in dance, we have a class for you.
Our team of dedicated and experienced teachers is passionate about dance and committed to providing excellent instruction. Lucy Bishop, a trained RAD Ballet and ISTD Modern & Tap dancer, has a background in musical theatre and has performed with renowned artists such as Lionel Ritchie and Dame Shirley Bassey. Louise Turner, specialising in contemporary dance, believes in the transformative power of dance to develop the whole person, mind, body, and soul. Kevin Selby brings his love of tap dance to his classes for adults, creating a supportive and encouraging environment for beginners and experienced tappers alike.
We offer a wide range of classes for both children and adults. Children can explore their creativity and develop their skills in ISTD Tap & Modern, RAD Ballet, Contemporary, Acrobatic Arts, Street Dance, and Commercial Jazz. For the little ones aged 2 and above, we have the adorable Little Stars class. Adults can choose from Tap beginners/improvers, Dance Fusion, Dance Fit, Ballet beginners/improvers, Historical Ballet, BeFit, and FABS-Move it or Lose it.
We also offer performance classes for those looking to showcase their talent in Performance Ballet and Modern Performance.
We also take pride in our community involvement and fundraising efforts. Furthermore, we regularly organise fundraisers to support charitable causes and contribute to the local community. As a registered charity, we are dedicated to using dance as a means to bring joy, self-expression, and confidence to people of all ages.
