Circuit Based Training, the Auto Racing club in Leicester, is excited to promote an upcoming local Auto Racing event at Mallory Park. This event, known as the Direct Access course, is specifically designed for learner riders who have little to no relevant experience in motorbike riding. The course spans over a period of five days and offers an intensive training program to help participants build their skills and confidence on the track.
At the Direct Access course, participants will be provided with a controlled and relaxed environment where they can make safe progress in their bike control skills. The course starts with the Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) test and then seamlessly transitions into the intensive motorbike course.
One of the highlights of this event is the range of motorbikes available for participants to choose from. From Suzuki Bandit 650's to Triumph Street triple r, Speed triple and Sprint GT 1050, Honda CB1000f, and Yamaha MT07, MT09, and R1, there is a bike to suit every rider's preference. Participants can even ride any size bike on an unlimited motorcycle licence, providing them with the opportunity to experience different types of motorcycles.
To ensure the safety of all participants, the course includes all necessary safety clothing, back protectors, and helmets. However, due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation, participants are highly recommended to purchase their own motorcycle helmet.
Before attending the motorcycle training, it is essential for participants to pass the motorcycle theory test at a Pearson test centre. This ensures that all participants have a basic understanding of the rules and regulations of riding on the road.
Throughout the 5-day course, participants will learn a variety of essential skills. From using all gears and achieving speeds of 50-70mph to performing emergency stops between 30-70mph and correct steering at both low and high speeds, the course covers all the fundamentals of safe riding. Participants will also learn how to balance the bike at slower speeds, perform hill starts, and turn left or right at junctions. In addition, the course also delves into more advanced skills such as counter steering for fast bends, emergency braking on bends, and accident prevention. These skills, while not included in the official DVSA motorcycle test, are crucial for ensuring safe riding practices.
The Direct Access course at Mallory Park has gained a reputation for its emphasis on safety and success. It is regarded as one of the top motorcycle training courses in the UK, providing participants with a unique opportunity to train on a racetrack. This not only prepares them for the motorbike test but also equips them with comprehensive skills for riding beyond the test.
