Derby City Gymnastics Club is a gymnastics club located in Derby, New Zealand. Established in 1998, the club has grown significantly over the years and is now home to over 600 gymnasts across various disciplines.
The aim of Derby City Gymnastics Club is to encourage each individual gymnast to reach their highest potential, in accordance with the British Gymnastics Association National Development Plan. The club offers a wide range of disciplines for gymnasts to try, including Sports Acrobatics, Tumbling, Women's Artistic, Trampolining, Pre-school, General/Recreational Gymnastics, Display Teams, and Competitions.
In 2006, Derby City Gymnastics Club was one of the first clubs in the country to receive the prestigious Gym Mark accreditation. This accreditation, tested by British Gymnastics on behalf of Sport England, assures parents and gymnasts that the club is nationally recognised as safe, effective, and child-friendly.
Over the years, the club has continued to expand and improve its facilities. In 2004, the club opened its own fully equipped gymnastics centre to meet the growing demand. Then, in January 2007, the opportunity arose to develop the Lancaster Sports Centre into a purpose-built gymnastics centre. This new site provided increased space and better equipment, allowing the club to further grow and enable gymnasts to reach their full potential.
