Nedlands Croquet Club was also a chosen venue for the prestigious 2023 World Croquet Federation Interstate Shield. This highly anticipated event attracted top players from six competing states across Australia, including New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, and Tasmania. A thrilling competition took place over five days, with New South Wales emerging as the overall winner and Western Australia securing the runner-up position, repeating the same result as the previous year.
The club's annual Golf Croquet Championship saw veteran player Martin Clarke emerge as the deserving champion. In a display of skill and determination, Martin won five out of six games, only falling short to Torben Bak in a close match. Alongside Martin, other commendable players such as John Doepel, Basil Ladyman, Wendy Prendiville, David Gould, and Terry Thomas competed fiercely, making for an exciting tournament.
Nedlands Croquet Club is also known for its vibrant social events and community engagement. A notable group that visited the club was the Swiss Family Clinic, comprising medical and mental-health professionals. They not only enjoyed bonding as a team on the croquet lawns but also provided valuable multidisciplinary services and treatment for young people and families in the local community. The Autism Association of WA also celebrated their hard work and achievements by hosting a festive event at the club. The staff members delighted in the Christmas spirit and let loose after a year of dedicated service.
