Brian Drury, Chairman and Trustee of the C. P. T Angling Club, would like to extend a warm welcome to the sports community. The club, based in Colchester, Essex, has been a cornerstone of the local angling scene since its inception in 1951 by Post Office workforce members. Today, it proudly supports around 300 members.
Managed by a committee of 12, including four trustees, the club welcomes Postal and Telecom Staff as full members and offers associate membership to the public.
The club offers access to five different waters, including former gravel pits, reservoirs, and a half-mile stretch of the River Stour at Wiston near Nayland, Suffolk. These waters are rich in diverse species and abundant fish. Notably, Wivenhoe is home to carp weighing up to 50lbs, offering an exciting challenge for all anglers. Additionally, the water at Ardleigh provides a serene and scenic setting for fishing enthusiasts.
Membership fees stand at £75, with an initial £10 admin fee. There are concessions for OAPs, Armed Forces members, and Emergency Services personnel. Night fishing is available to 150 individuals per season for an additional annual charge, allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
The club encourages visitors to explore their website, where numerous photographs of the waters can be found. Enrolment evenings are held in March and April each year, marking the start of the new season.
Membership is open to children of members under 17 years at no cost, although registration is required for insurance. Upon turning 17, they may become associate members without waiting.
Brian Drury hopes you enjoy learning more about the C. P. T Angling Club. For membership enquiries or questions, please contact the club.
Tight lines and happy fishing!
