The Mildura Swimming Club is excited to announce the Country Target squad, a fantastic opportunity for swimmers who have shown incredible dedication and progress in their swimming journey. This squad is specifically designed for those who have the potential to compete in the highly anticipated Victorian and/or South Australian Country Championships.
Training for the Country Target squad will be held at the Mildura Waves Aquatic & Leisure Centre, a state-of-the-art facility that provides the perfect environment for swimmers to refine their skills. It is expected that swimmers in this squad attend three training sessions per week, allowing them to continuously improve their technique, fitness, and work ethic.
To be eligible for the squad, swimmers are required to meet the coaching panel's criteria in terms of technique, speed, and commitment. Additionally, they should be able to confidently compete in race distances mentioned in the Victorian Country Qualifying Times document for their respective age group.
Swimmers in the Country Target squad are expected to come prepared with the necessary equipment, including a net bag, goggles (spare pair), kick board, fins (preferably DMC brand), pull buoy, bathers, water bottle, MSC Swim Cap, finger paddles, snorkel, theraband for arms, skipping rope, and foam roller. Having these tools at hand ensures that swimmers can make the most of their training sessions.
Furthermore, it is highly encouraged for swimmers in this squad to participate in club and district-based competitions to gain valuable experience. Additionally, they are recommended to compete in Victorian events and the prestigious Victorian & South Australian Championship events if they have achieved the qualifying times.
Showing a high level of commitment and attendance to training is of utmost importance for swimmers in the Country Target squad. Swimmers are expected to attend their specified training sessions without fail. If, for any reason, a swimmer is unable to make a session, it is essential to inform the coaching staff. Being punctual and respectful towards fellow swimmers and the coach is mandatory, as any disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated. Repeated disruptions may result in a re-evaluation of the swimmer's position within the squad.
Regular and consistent attendance is key to progress in the Country Target squad. Failure to attend without a valid explanation may lead to a reconsideration of the swimmer's position within the squad.
Moreover, swimmers in the Country Target squad are encouraged to explore opportunities for further development. Joining the Sunraysia Academy of Sport is highly recommended as it provides additional benefits like gym training, athlete education, and technique-based swim training.
Lastly, it is important to note that no refunds or makeup sessions will be available for missed sessions. As part of our club policy, all swimmers training at the Mildura Swimming Club must purchase a membership through Swim Central. This membership is valid from 1st July to 30th June of each season, ensuring access to a wide range of swimming resources and support.
