Welcome to Combat Jujutsu, Bristol. Combat Jujutsu, also known as Jujitsu or Jiu-jitsu, is a martial art rooted in the battlefield techniques of the Samurai warriors of Japan. Originally developed as a way for disarmed Samurai to defend themselves on foot, Jujutsu has since been adapted for modern self-defence applications on the streets.
At Combat Jujutsu, located at Impact Gym in Bristol, students will learn the principles and techniques of this combative art. The primary focus is on teaching individuals how to stay safe and defend themselves in unexpected threatening situations. Whether it's through verbal de-escalation, pre-emptive striking, or defences against unarmed and armed attacks, Combat Jujutsu equips its members with both the physical and mental tools needed to effectively protect themselves.
Classes at Combat Jujutsu cover a wide range of fighting aspects, including throws, strangles, joint-locks, control, restraints, and holds. Members will learn these moves and methods to gain a comprehensive understanding of self-defence. Taught by experienced instructors, such as Ross Mackenzie and Jay Newton, members have the opportunity to attend regular open classes at Impact Gym on Saturdays from 10am to 11am and Wednesdays from 7pm to 8:30pm. These classes are suitable for individuals of all skill levels.
For those who prefer a more personalised approach, Combat Jujutsu also offers private sessions catering to beginners and advanced students. The prices for private sessions are available upon request. Additionally, the membership options for Combat Jujutsu include a Silver Membership at 30 per month, allowing attendance at one class a week and access to the open mat facilities at the gym, and a Gold Membership at 45 per month, which allows attendance at two classes a week and access to the open mat facilities.
