Bob, the dedicated organiser of Ahimsa Yoga in Bristol, has a message for the sports community. He wants to share why this studio, grounded in the tradition of Gigananda Yoga, could be a key part of your fitness routine.
Ahimsa Yoga offers classes that build flexibility, strength, and balance through various poses and stretches. Bob also emphasises how focusing on breath and calming the mind during sessions can help relieve stress and promote relaxation. Studies have shown regular yoga practice can positively affect mental health, reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Beyond mental benefits, yoga has been linked to reduced inflammation and lowered risk of chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis. It can also improve sleep quality by easing tension and promoting relaxation, while stimulating blood flow and releasing endorphins for boosted energy and improved mood.
Bob leads classes rooted in the principles of Gigananda Yoga, featuring Hatha Yoga. These sessions include gentle, relaxing movements and conscious breathing techniques at a slow pace, making them accessible for all fitness levels. You don't need to be particularly fit or flexible to join in.
Bob trained in Sanatan Yoga under teachers from the Gitananda Lineage at the Satsanga Ashram in Wales. His Hatha Yoga classes are held at Portland Therapy in Staple Hill, Bristol, on Saturdays from 9:15am to 10:15am and Tuesdays from 6:45pm to 7:45pm. All levels of experience are welcome.
Ahimsa Yoga provides all necessary equipment, but if you prefer to bring your own mat, you're welcome to do so. To book a class, contact Portland Therapy at 0117 9565855 or enquiries@portlandtherapycentre.uk. Each class costs £8.
For any questions or further information, feel free to reach out directly to Bob at 07514 298827 or email info@ahimsayogabristol.co.uk. Bob and the team are more than happy to assist you.
At Ahimsa Yoga, Bob aims to create an inclusive environment where everyone can benefit from the transformative power of yoga. Whether you're an experienced yogi or just starting, come and join Ahimsa Yoga in Bristol for an enriching experience.
